FOR FICTION WRITERS WITH LONG MEMORY PROBLEMS
The memory layerfor your manuscript.
ESSE Writer helps you remember who knows what, what changed when, and which story threads still need attention — without making you build a wiki by hand.
No fake launch numbers. No spam. Just an invite when the beta is ready.
Private by design
Your manuscript is not a social feed, ad target, or public dataset.
Built for long fiction
Made for novels, series, tangled casts, secrets, and slow-burning threads.
Writer stays in control
ESSE suggests, checks, and explains. You decide what belongs on the page.
THE PROBLEM
Long stories create continuity debt.
By chapter twenty, a writer is carrying hundreds of quiet facts: who heard which confession, which promise was broken, who still trusts whom, what object disappeared, and which thread has been waiting too long.
Most tools ask you to maintain a separate encyclopedia. ESSE starts from the manuscript itself, then helps you ask better questions about what you already wrote.
The kind of question that slows a draft
Can this character mention the letter here — or did she never actually learn about it?
ESSE is being built to answer that kind of question with evidence, not vibes.
WHAT IT HELPS WITH
A private memory for the parts of your story that are easy to lose.
Remember
Keep track of characters, secrets, relationships, threads, places, and the little facts that become important later.
Ask
Ask questions like "Who knows about the letter?" or "What changed between these two characters?" and inspect the reason behind the answer.
Check
Review new scenes for continuity issues before they harden into the draft.
Draft
Generate scene starts from your own established context, then rewrite freely in your voice.
The goal is not to replace the writer. The goal is to make the writer less afraid of forgetting.
PUBLIC-DOMAIN EXAMPLE
Imagine asking this of a classic novel.
To avoid using any living writer's work as a demo, the public preview uses public-domain fiction. The example below is illustrative, not a live product screenshot.
Example source: Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre, public domain in the United States.
A story question
At this point in the story, what can Jane know, what can the reader know, and what remains hidden from other characters?
“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”
Character knowledge
Separate what a character knows from what the reader has been allowed to suspect.
Relationship memory
Track how trust, fear, affection, and suspicion shift after key scenes.
Open threads
Surface promises, mysteries, and unresolved tensions that may need attention later.
Demo text and assets must come only from verified public-domain or no-known-restrictions sources. Do not use modern novels, fan fiction, or copyrighted screenshots.
HOW IT WORKS
Give it pages.Ask better questions. Keep writing.
Bring your manuscript
Start with chapters you have already written. The beta will focus on prose drafts, not outlines or prompts.
Build a private story memory
ESSE organizes the important continuity details so they can be searched, checked, and explained.
Use it while drafting
Ask questions, review continuity notes, and draft scenes with context instead of starting from a blank page.
WHO IT IS FOR
Built for writers who are deep enough into a story to start forgetting it.
You may want ESSE if…
- Your cast has outgrown a simple notes file.
- You keep rereading old chapters to check who knows what.
- You write mysteries, fantasy, sci-fi, romance, literary series, or any story with layered continuity.
- You want help remembering, not a machine trying to take over the book.
You may not want ESSE if…
- You want a tool to write the whole novel from a prompt.
- You are working only from an outline with no prose yet.
- You prefer to maintain every world detail manually.
- You do not want software touching your manuscript at all.
PRIVACY & TRUST
A manuscript is private before it is anything else.
The beta is being built around explicit consent, private project storage, and clear deletion/export paths. Your story should never feel trapped inside a tool.
- No public sharing of manuscripts.
- No fake community feed.
- Export and delete paths are part of the product plan.
A NOTE FROM THE BUILDER
I am building ESSE because long fiction deserves better memory.
Writers should not have to choose between a blank document and a giant manual wiki. ESSE is my attempt to build a calmer layer between the draft and the world behind it — something that remembers, checks, and explains while the writer stays in charge.

Private beta invites will go out slowly as the product becomes safe enough for real manuscripts.
FAQ
Questions before the private beta.
Is ESSE Writer an AI writing tool?
It uses AI, but the goal is not to replace the writer. The goal is manuscript memory: helping you track continuity, ask grounded questions, and draft from context you control.
Will it write my novel for me?
No. ESSE may help create scene starts or beat-based drafts, but the writer decides what stays. It is a tool for memory and continuity, not a replacement author.
What kinds of stories is it for?
Long-form fiction with continuity pressure: novels, series, mysteries, fantasy, sci-fi, romance, historical fiction, and layered literary projects.
Can I use it with a short story?
Eventually, yes, but the beta is aimed at writers whose manuscripts are already large enough that memory is becoming painful.
Will my manuscript train AI?
No. Your manuscript will not be used to train AI. The beta treats manuscript text as private project data for your own workspace.
When will the beta open?
Invites will go out gradually when the product is ready for real manuscripts. Join the waitlist and you will hear when the first private wave opens.
Will there be a free version?
Pricing is not final. The early goal is to make the beta useful, safe, and honest before promising tiers.
Can I see a live demo?
The landing page uses public-domain examples only. A real product demo will come when the beta app is ready enough to show without faking capability.
Stop rereading just to remember what your story already knows.
